Walton Hall Plant Performance Testing done by WEBSProject: Plant Performance Testing and Flow and Load Survey
Site: Walton Hall, Warwickshire
Client: Paramount Hotel Group
When: October 2006

WEBS was requested to assess the performance of a small package sewage treatment plant serving a Warwickshire hotel.

A two week flow and load survey was conducted utilising 24 hour composite samplers to sample the inlet to the works, and the final effluent.  A temporary flow meter was set up to monitor the final effluent flow, and dissolved oxygen probes were placed in each of the two aeration cells to monitor the aeration capacity.  The samples were analysed at WEBS’ UKAS accredited laboratory for COD, BOD, Ammonia, pH and suspended solids.

In addition to the monitoring on the sewage plant, daily readings were taken for the hotel potable water usage, and compared with daily hotel resident numbers and spa users to provide a more complete picture for water usage.  A temporary rain gauge was set up to monitor the effect of surface run off from rainfall on the sewage plant performance.

From the data gained in this survey, WEBS was able to make proposals for improving the performance of the sewage plant and ensuring that it meets the Environment Agency discharge consents, and that it continues to do so once the hotel’s increased activities are realised.
