NS500 and NS5000 Nitrifying bacteria
Biological nitrification is the standard process by which ammonia removal from wastewaters is achieved in wastewater treatment plants.  This process is increasing in importance due to more stringent effluent requirements and the need for nutrient removal.

Where a healthy population of nitrifying bacteria has to be maintained, the availability of easily introduced concentrated suspensions of these slow growing bacteria is of significant value to either establish or assist in providing an adequate level of nitrifying activity.

WEBS supplies mixed cultures of those bacteria which oxidise ammonia to nitrite (Nitrosomonas spp.) in combination with the equivalent level of the bacteria which oxidise nitrite to nitrate (Nitrobacter spp.).  The product is available in two concentrations NS500, which has an activity level of 500 mg/l NH4-N oxidised/kg/h, and NS5000, which has an activity of 5000 mg/l NH4-N oxidised/kg/h.
